Edvard Munch was born December 12 , 1863 in the small town of Loten , Norway. He was the son of Christian Munch. Christian was a military doctor. He was also the son of Laura Cathrine Munch, nee Bjolstad. Edvard had 3 sisters Inger, Sophie , and Laura , and one brother named Andreas. Edvard's mother Laura died of tuberculosis, also Edvard's oldest sister Sophie also died of tuberculosis. Those two deaths caused this painter inspiration to paint the amazing famous photos .
When he was a kid, he had always had an interest for painting, but his parents never supported it. When he got older and was decided to stick with the idea of becoming an artist, his parents argued with him to pick a better job. When Edvard hit the age of 16, he entered the Oslo Technical College, with the idea of trying to become an engineer. Edvard tried to stick with the idea of becoming an engineer, but his true passion was painting, therefore, he dropped out of college and began to follow his dream of becoming an artist. Edvard went to classes at the Royal drawing School , also in Oslo. He also took private lessons with Christian Krogh. After that , Edvard was considered one of the best artists in his class.
